Adaaran Select Meedhupparu

In this article, I’ll walk you through everything you need to know about this beautiful island resort, from accommodation and dining to how to get there, what to do, and why it might just be the perfect Maldives getaway for you.

Why I Chose Adaaran Select Meedhupparu for My Maldives Stay

Choosing a resort in the Maldives is no easy task, given the abundance of stunning properties in the region. That’s why I always book with Travelbag;  their team has a knack for matching me with the perfect escape every time. When my agent recommended Adaaran Select Meedhupparu, I knew right away it was the one. In addition to their comprehensive all-inclusive package which covers everything from dining and drinks to a variety of activities and excursions, they also had an unbeatable 40% discount on stays over five nights. It was simply too good to pass up.

The resort’s location was also a huge draw. Unlike some of the more bustling islands in the Maldives, Meedhupparu offers a more secluded experience. The island’s peaceful atmosphere made it an ideal choice for someone like me who enjoys a good balance between relaxation and adventure.

Where is Adaaran Select Meedhupparu Located?

Adaaran Select Meedhupparu is situated on the serene island of Meedhupparu in the northern region of the Maldives, part of the Raa Atoll. This lush, private island is about 150 kilometers north of Malé, the capital of the Maldives. The island’s isolated location makes it an ideal retreat for those looking to get away from it all, offering a sense of privacy and tranquility that’s hard to find at more commercialised resorts.

How to Get to Adaaran Select Meedhupparu from Malé

  1. Domestic Flight + Speedboat (Approx. 45 minutes): One of the most popular ways to reach the island is by taking a domestic flight from Malé International Airport to Velana Airport, which is located nearby. The flight takes about 45 minutes, and from there, you will be transferred by a 30-minute speedboat ride to the resort. The cost of the domestic flight is approximately £200 per person, with the speedboat transfer costing an additional £30 per person.
  2. Seaplane (Approx. 40 minutes): For a truly unforgettable arrival, the seaplane is hands-down the best choice. The 40-minute flight from Malé to Meedhupparu treats you to jaw-dropping aerial views of the atolls, shimmering turquoise lagoons and white-sand islands scattered across the ocean. While it does come at a premium, usually between £350 and £600 per person depending on the season and availability, I can honestly say it’s worth every penny. For me, this was the absolute highlight of the trip and made the long 7-hour flight to Abu Dhabi and the extra 4-hour layover fade into the background the moment we soared above the Maldives. Seaplanes operate only during daylight hours, typically from 6 am to 5 pm. If your flight arrives in Malé after 4 pm, you’ll need to travel by domestic flight and boat or spend the night in Malé if you want to catch a seaplane the next morning.
  3. Private Yacht (On Request): For a more luxurious experience, some guests opt for a private yacht charter to the resort. This is a custom service offered by the resort and is perfect for those looking to add a touch of exclusivity to their journey. Pricing for this service varies depending on the yacht’s size and the duration of the trip.

All transfers whether you opt for the speedboat + domestic flight or the seaplane are arranged by your resort or through your travel agent so you don’t need to worry about booking your own transfer.

The Island’s Seclusion and Serenity

One of the first things that struck me about Meedhupparu was the island’s unparalleled sense of seclusion. As the seaplane began its slow descent, the sun dipped toward the horizon, casting a golden-pink glow over the shimmering water and setting the entire island ablaze in warm, golden hues. I was spellbound as the seaplane glided over the turquoise sea and touched down on the water.

Waiting on the jetty, a small team of smiling staff waved enthusiastically, their warmth immediately setting the tone for the days ahead. After stepping off the seaplane, we were whisked away in a golf caddy to reception, where cool towels and refreshing welcome drinks were served while the hotel manager went over the details of our stay.

The deep sense of peace and privacy within the resort totally exceeded our expectations. Unlike some of the busier resorts in the Maldives, this private island is a true escape from the world. The beaches were blissfully uncrowded, even though we were told the hotel was at full capacity. We could walk for miles on end along the powdery sand without crossing paths with another soul, which made it feel like we had the entire island to ourselves.

The serenity of Adaaran Select Meedhupparu really invites you to fully unplug and savour the art of doing nothing.

The resort’s swimming pool with its stunning infinity pool, set just above the sandy beach only added to this atmosphere of relaxed luxury.

Despite the hotel being at capacity, the pool area never felt crowded. There were always plenty of sun loungers and chairs available, so you never had to rush or reserve a spot. The swim-up bar was a particularly lovely touch, perched elegantly at one end of the infinity pool. And yet, as beautiful as the pool was, we found ourselves using it only rarely. After all, when you have your own private stretch of beach just outside your villa, it’s impossible to resist your clear turquoise waters. For us, it was the salty air, the feel of white sand underfoot, and the thrill of plunging into the Indian Ocean that truly defined the magic of this place.

During my stay, I had the pleasure of experiencing a Deluxe Beach Villa, and it was everything I had hoped for and more. The villa was so close to the beach that we could hear the waves gently lapping against the shore as we drifted off to sleep each night. Waking up to the sound of the ocean, just a stone’s throw from our bed, was one of the most serene experiences I’ve ever had. The outdoor terrace, with its sun loungers was the perfect spot for morning coffee or an afternoon nap under the shade of the palm trees.

The interior was equally stunning, with a modern, open-plan design that made the space feel airy and spacious. The floor-to-ceiling windows provided unobstructed views of the turquoise waters. The large bathroom had a classic shower plus an outdoor rain shower which felt like a mini spa experience every time we used it.

Every morning as we stepped out of the villa and onto the soft white sand, we felt like our own private slice of paradise. The Deluxe Beach Villa truly captured the essence of a beach vacation in the Maldives, peaceful, intimate and utterly breathtaking.

What’s Included in Your Stay? A Breakdown of Inclusions

The all-inclusive experience at Adaaran Select Meedhupparu is comprehensive and offers a range of services and amenities to ensure you make the most of the resort’s luxury.

Culinary options

One of the highlights of our stay at Adaaran Select Meedhupparu was discovering its wonderfully diverse dining scene. From candle lit fine dining to casual beachside bites, the resort offers something for every craving.

Jaafaiy Restaurant

Jaafaiy is the resort’s main buffet restaurant and where you’ll likely start most of your days. Breakfast is a feast- think tropical fruits, freshly baked pastries, eggs any way you like, pancakes, and Maldivian curries for those wanting a local kick. The lunch and dinner menus are varied and never repetitive. They also do dinner themed nights such as Christmas and Valentine’s. We were there for the Halloween themed night which was very fun and spooky! We also loved the Maldivian night which had an impressive array of authentic local dishes. The energy here is lively and the staff will make you feel right at home.

Sufura Indian Restaurant

Sufura is a little paradise of Indian flavours. The menu celebrates the best of Indian cuisine and has all the favourites, from creamy butter chicken to aromatic biryanis and the most delicious naan bread I’ve ever tasted. I loved the colourful decor and evening lighting.

Thavaa Restaurant

Thavaa is a Mediterranean restaurant perched right by the water. The open-air restaurant serves up a mix of fresh seafood, tapas, grilled meats, and wood-fired pizzas. The octopus carpaccio and freshly grilled prawns were some of my personal favourites. Evenings here are particularly magical, with tables softly lit under the stars and the sound of waves creating a naturally romantic soundtrack.

Thavaa doesn’t accept walk-ins so make sure you book in advance as tables can fill up quickly, especially in the evening.

Café Mass

For a relaxed, laid-back vibe, Café Mass is a great spot to hang out for a sunset drink or a light snack. It offers burgers, sandwiches, and fresh salads. It’s opposite Thava restaurant and has a similar terrace on the ocean.

Halaboli Bar

The Halaboli Bar is located close to the main pool as in an ideal spot for a pre-dinner cocktail or a nightcap. The bartenders were brilliant, always ready with creative suggestions.

Sunset Bar

True to its name, the Sunset Bar is all about the view. Set on the western side of the island, it’s the place to be when the sun starts its slow descent over the horizon. There’s something so timeless and soothing about this spot, it was our favourite place to hang out and we often found ourselves lingering long after the last rays faded, simply soaking in the beauty.

Pool Bar

The Pool Bar is the beating heart of the resort’s social scene. Set beside the stunning infinity pool that overlooks the beach, it offers swim-up service and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

Albino Bar

The Albino Bar is a bit of a hidden gem, offering a cool, stylish setting for a quiet drink or a relaxed evening. It has a more intimate vibe, with low lighting and comfy seating. It’s a wonderful spot to unwind after a day of snorkelling or sunbathing.

Activities and Recreation at Adaaran Select Meedhupparu

One of the things that make this resort so special is the wide range of activities available. Whether you want to explore the ocean or relax in a tranquil setting, there is something for everyone.

Water Sports: From Snorkelling to Jet Skiing

For water enthusiasts, the resort offers a range of water sports, including snorkelling, jet skiing, windsurfing, and paddle boarding. The crystal-clear waters surrounding the island are teeming with marine life which makes them a snorkeler’s paradise.

Exciting Excursions: Dolphin and Sunset Cruises

The hotel organises two cruises weekly. The dolphin and the sunset cruises. Both are included in the price for stays over 5 nights. We did the dolphin cruise and loved seeing them in their natural habitat. We were lucky to witness several epic sunsets from our room and different parts of the island so we skipped the sunset cruise.

Fitness Facilities

For those who want to stay active, the resort offers a fully equipped fitness centre, as well as a range of fitness classes, including yoga, Pilates, and aqua aerobics.

The All-Inclusive Experience: What’s not included

The all-inclusive package at Adaaran Select Meedhupparu covers most of the services you’ll need during your stay. From meals and drinks to activities and excursions, the package offers exceptional value for money. However, there are a few things not included which you need to be aware of.

Beach BBQs and Outdoor Dining Experiences

The hotel organises banquets and BBQ nights few times a week where freshly grilled seafood and meats are served under the stars, accompanied by the sounds of the ocean. These dinners are not included and must be booked separately.

Diving Adventures

Thanks to its amazing location in the Indian Ocean, the resort is surrounded by incredible marine life, from coral reefs to various schools of fish. We didn’t book any diving excursions but did plenty of snorkelling just on our little stretch of the beach and saw plenty of fish. However, if you want to fully explore the underwater world, the resort has its own diving centre where you can book guided diving trips in some of the Maldives’ best diving spots.

Relaxation and Wellness

If relaxation is what you’re after, the resort offers a range of wellness activities which are not part of the all inclusive package but can be easily booked onsite. The Mandara Spa is nestled among swaying palms and lush gardens and is a serene sanctuary for those seeking deep relaxation. The spa menu is extensive, offering a range of luxurious treatments from Elemis. Whatever you opt for, you’ll be pampered with some of the finest skincare treatments in the world.

The Spa also features a jacuzzi and sauna. The tranquil setting, expert therapists and premium products all come together to deliver an unforgettable wellness experience that leaves you floating in a state of bliss.

Those seeking balance or a boost to their immune system can try the Chinese reflexology centre where skilled therapists work their magic on tired feet and hands.

You can enjoy snorkelling and borrow basic gear from the hotel at no cost, but advanced equipment and motorised water sports are available for an additional fee.
